How to create folders in your email program

This PC Tip is for creating folders in the email program installed on your computer. Folders are an excellent way of organizing your email. Instead of keeping everything in your inbox you can create folders to store your email in. You can create folders for different clients, individuals, or topics so that it is easier to find old emails when you need them.
Windows Mail / Outlook Express:
1. Open Windows Mail / Outlook Express
2. Go to your "Inbox"
3. Select "File"
4. Select "Folder"
5. Select "New"
6. Enter the name of the folder you want to create under "Folder name:"
7. Highlight the folder that you want to put the new folder in under "Select the folder in which to create the new folder". Folders can be nested in Windows Mail and Outlook Express, so you can put the new folder under any other folder
8. To create a top-level folder, highlight Local Folders
9. Click "Ok"
OR
MS Outlook:
1. Open MS Outlook
2. Go to your "Inbox"
3. Select "File"
4. Select "New"
5. Select "Folder" or press "Ctrl+Shift+E"
6. Type in the name of your new folder under "Name:" and then highlight your mailbox. It is important that you create the new folder in your mailbox rather than Public Folders. If you don't then your folder will be lost when you try and access your mail through the exchange website or if you move to another computer
7. It will ask you if you would like to put a shortcut in the left frame of outlook. Click "Yes" if you want one and "No" if you don't
