How to reduce the file size of an image

Have you ever tried to email your photos or upload them somewhere but the file size is too large? Here are a few options to decrease the file size:

Using Paint:
1. Right click on your photo
2. Hover over “Open With”
3. Select “Paint”
4. Your photo will open in Paint
5. Click “File”
6. Click “Save As”
7. Rename the image and save it
8. This will decrease the file size of the image

If your photo is still too large you can decrease the actual size of the photo which will in turn decrease the file size:
1. Right click on your photo
2. Hover over “Open With”
3. Select “Microsoft Office Picture Manager”
4. Your photo will open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager
5. Click “Edit Pictures”
6. The Edit Pictures menu will open on the right hand side
7. Click “Resize”
8. You can select a custom size from the “Predefined Width & Height” by clicking the drop down menu and selecting the size you would prefer or by entering a custom width & height or by a %
9. Once you are happy with the new size of the photo click “File”
10. Click “Save”
11. This will decrease the actual size of the image and the file size

Here is another option to email your photos and decrease the size & file size:
1. Right click on your photo
2. Hover over “Send To”
3. Select “Mail Recipient”
4. A window will open up with 2 options to “Send Pictures via E-mail”
5. If you select “Make all my pictures smaller” it will make the size & file size smaller for you to email.
6. Click “OK”.
7. A new Email window will open. You can then complete your email and send the reduced image.
