How to print web pages without header and footer informationLOL Cats

This PC Tip is designed to simplify printing pages from the internet. If you would like to print web pages without the web address, title, date, etc then Internet Explorer has a feature to let you do this:
1. Click "File"
2. Click "Page Setup"
3. Go to the "Headers & Footers" area and remove all the illegible content in the respective fields.
4. Click "OK".
If you are using Internet Explorer 8, use this same procedure, but instead of removing the illegible content manually, use the drop-down boxes to select "none" instead.

Should you decide that you would still like to print some of the header and footer information, here's how:

  • &w = Window title
  • &u = Page address (URL)
  • &d = Date in short format as specified by Regional Settings in Control Panel
  • &D = Date in long format as specified by Regional Settings in Control Panel
  • &t = Time in the format specified by Regional Settings in Control Panel
  • &T = Time in 24-hour format
  • &p = Current page number
  • &P = Total number of pages
  • && = A single ampersand (&)
  • &b = The text immediately following these characters as centered.
  • &b&b = The text immediately following the first "&b" as centered, and the text following the second "&b" as right-justified. If, for example, you would like the header to have the window (page) title and the URL, you would type: "&w &u".  Please be aware of spacing.  To get a single space between items (e.g. &w&u) you need to hit the "space bar" twice.
